Pak cricket chief vows to lure world's best

Dubai: Pakistan's new cricket chief Zaka Ashraf on Monday vowed to bring international cricket back to the country, suggesting the game's governing body could form a board to assess security before teams' tours.

Malinga inspires Sri Lankan win over Pakistan

Sling-action paceman Lasith Malinga took three wickets to help Sri Lanka to a 25-run win over Pakistan in the second one day international to level the five-match series 1-1 here on Monday. 

Malinga took two wickets in the first over and then returned in his second spell to finish with 3-36 to help dismiss Pakistan for 210 in 46.3 overs after setting them a target of 236 runs at Dubai stadium. 

Sri Lanka's Atapattu praises Pakistan

Sri Lankan batting coach Marvan Atapattu on Sunday praised the Pakistan team as one of the best in the recent past and likened their captain Misbah-ul Haq to his country's former skipper Arjuna Ranatunga. 

Atapattu's praise came after Sri Lanka were thrashed by eight wickets in the first one-day here on Friday to go 1-0 down in the five-match series, which followed Pakistan's 1-0 win in the three-Test series. 

Afridi stars as Pakistan thump Sri Lanka

Leg-spinner Shahid Afridi capped an excellent return to international cricket with three wickets as Pakistan thumped Sri Lanka by eight wickets in the first day-night match here on Friday.

Afridi took 3-27 in his first match since returning from a six-month exile, helping Pakistan dismiss Sri Lanka for a paltry 131 in 40.3 overs before Younis Khan and Imran Farhat hit fifties to anchor the chase at Dubai stadium.

New ODI rules no problem, say SL, Pak coaches

Dubai: Rival coaches Geoff Marsh and Mohsin Khan said they were comfortable with the change in rules as Pakistan and Sri Lanka play under them for the first time in the opening day-night match on Friday.

Teams will have to start the batting and bowling Powerplays at the beginning of any over between the 16th and the 36th over for a full game while two new balls - one from either end - will be used during an innings.

Marsh said his players have talked about these changes, which came into effect from October 1.
